note 5.14.24

It’s been a while since I put together an editor’s note! Things have been wild lately! We spent a month at the lake, I completed two trials, we made our way back to Colorado for a week, now we’re in Arizona for the week, then we’ll be back in Colorado for a few days before we jet off to the lake for the next two-ish months. And things aren’t really slowing down - we have a fun trip coming up in mid-June, I’m studying to take the Hawaii Bar Exam at the end of July, and then the home renovation process will begin. So if I am quiet on here, you know why.

I have really enjoyed getting this space (and my insta) going a bit more and I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to be more consistent come fall. But it’s been a good start and something I feel very excited about. Thank you for being here!

Onto the fun stuff! This note is inspired by our upcoming vacation to Saint Barthélemy (plus a few fun extras)!

  1. seashell earrings / give me all the seashells! Been eyeing these for our trip - the perfect size (and price point!).

  2. posse linen dress / I’ve mentioned this dress before but she’s just so good. So flattering and the linen is just perfection. Been thinking about pairing the white midi version with these sandals for longer than I’d like to admit.

  3. sisal tote bag / one of my favorite purchases this spring! I initially bought her as a farmer’s market tote but planning on using her to lug around my camera, our sun care products, books, etc. while we are in Saint Barthélemy.

  4. floral one piece / I have fallen in love with the swim brand Follow Suit. I recently ordered this top and these bottoms. There was a little mishap with my order (USPS, man!) and the gals who own the brand have just been delightful to work with. The top I had ordered ended up selling out before they could replace mine so they gave me a bunch of options and ended up having their factory make a new one just for me! I rarely come across customer service like this any more so just wanted to share. The way they handled the issue just made me love them even more so I ordered this floral one piece that I will style with a simple white skirt and these sandals. Side note: the flora one piece seems to be pretty much sold out on their site but Over the Moon has an exclusive color way available for pre-order.

  5. black sandals / Ancient Greek sandals forever! This style is quickly becoming a fave (along with my adored eleftherias). So comfortable and easy!

  6. krewe sunnies / I am a sunglasses hoarder so I really don’t need these but how fun?! I had a similar style a few years back but they broke while I was wearing them on my head and my boyfriend (now husband) went over a speed bump wayyy too fast. So, maybe I have a way to justify them after all!

  7. classic sunscreen / Has anyone else tried Vacation?? I ordered a bunch last year before we went on our honeymoon. Everything works so well (rubs in easily, doesn’t make you sticky, etc.) and the scents are amazing! I went to place another order this morning and was happy to see some new goodies. I reordered the Classic Lotion and Chardonnay Oil (we have the After Sun Gel too). New products I added to my order include this Mineral Milk Face Sunscreen and these Bronzing Drops.

  8. swim covers / I’ve been on the hunt for some new items to throw over swimsuits and wanted to note a few things I’ve found on sale recently: chartreuse short with matching top options 1 or 2 / elce oversized shirt and matching shorts / wrap skirt / crochet pullover / silk sarong / floral pants / crochet maxi dress / silk-crepe pant.

  9. floral linen dress / my dream dress! She’s pricey but I can see myself wearing her for years to come. Might have to pull the trigger!

  10. spring-y take on a Doen favorite / came across this top the other day. She would be so cute paired with these jeans (which a girlfriend turned me onto… they’re so good) and a simple sandal.

  11. floral mesh flats / These are pricey, so I haven’t pulled the trigger quite yet but I added them to my Pinterest “wishlist” very quickly. I picked up my first pair of mesh flats - a cheap find at Target via a girlfriend - and I must admit… I really love the look! While I’m not sure I’d invest in the more expensive sparkly flats, the floral adorned version seems more up my alley.

  12. magazine-style photo albums / This year, I am trying to make an effort to do more creative things. When I was a kid, I loved painting, photography, playing guitar, rearranging/redesigning things, baking, and just all kinds creative stuff that I really don’t make time for anymore. I’m working on re-discovering this side of myself and feeling less guilty about channeling my energy toward these types of things. To that end, I splurged on this camera earlier in the year thinking that just having it around would inspire me to get in that creative headspace and snap more photos. Buuuttt it didn’t really work that way; I haven’t touched it much except to take some family photos for my sister recently. Then I saw Annie Meyers-Shyer (of @thisoakhouse on Insta) post about doing magazine-style photo albums for travel I was so inspired to do the same! I’m using this idea as inspiration to whip out my camera and print our photos in these 8.5 x 11 softcover photo books so that we can have them around the house as a way to remember our adventures.

  13. airplane sweets / anyone else crave sweets on the plane? All of these cute candies and treats keep popping up on my Pinterest feed (definitely because I keep saving all of them). But they’re adorable! I wish I had seen them when I was searching for sweets to include in our wedding welcome bags but I ordered a few for myself and to include in gifts to friends. Here are some favorites: Sour Fish, Maison Boissier Bonbons (in the cutest re-usable tins), Maison Boissier Heart Sweets (how cute for a little galentine’s treat?!), and my favorite pressed flower shortbread cookies (we did include these in our wedding bags and I order them all the time as a hostess gift).

  14. As most of you already know, I’ve been slowly collecting tiny treasures for our new home. It’s been a fun way to channel all my shopping energy into something a bit more practical. These floral hand-etched glasses are my most recent purchase. How cute! I also saw these the other day and have been trying to convince myself I don’t need them ever since. It’s not going well.

That’s all for now. Xx!
